How it all began . . . .

After acquiring a wonderful pet cockapoo, Molly Shea, that did not cause allergy problems, we promptly moved ahead with our dream of starting a kennel. Our research led us to a wonderful, experienced breeder who has become our mentor. From her we have acquired three breeding quality Cockapoos with outstanding pedigrees - Cara Mia now retired and living with a wonderful family in Connecticut.   Terra Nova Toby, a black/white parti weighing in at 22 lbs. and who is a happy, gentle male,  Maragold in July 08, and from another great breeder in Caifornia, Frisco Bay in October 08. Sophie joined our family in March 09 and is quite a character. Her spunky personality and beautiful green eyes have captured all our hearts. Robin came to live with in March, 2010 and she is a beautiful tri color puppy - white, black & tan (with silver sable coming in also). She had her first litter of beautiful  puppies in January 2011.  Bailey is our fourth female (May 2010) and has become fast friends with Robin and Sophie. Bailey is almost a twin to Maragold although not related.   A wonderful surprise addition to our kennel came from a breeder friend (for my 2010 birthday) - Darla is a unique blue merle with tan cockapoo and will be expecting her first litter of puppies (with Tuffy) in December 2011

And a wonderful addition in Spring of 2011 is Tuffy who has such a sweet personality and outstanding pedigree. What a little stud!

I have promised my husband that Kokomo will be the last addition to our kennel (at least for a while!) - but I couldn't resist him:

 Kokomo, seen here at three months old, is sooooooo cute and smart. He loves to snuggle, at least for a little while, until he is off chasing his brothers and sisters around the house and in and out the doggie door. He just loves to play with them. I don't expect him to grow very large (his daddy is about 6 lbs).   

Sophie, above, became part of our family on March 21, 2009. She is such an "imp" and those big green eyes are always full of fun. She is Toby's half sister, having the same daddy. Her mom is chocolate too! Her maternal instincts are obvious as she takes care of all the new additions to our kennel family. Can't wait to see her puppies!!

  TERRA NOVA TOBY is so happy and gentle.  Molly, Maragold, Frisco, Sophie, Robin, and Bailey pull on his ears, nip his ankles (to get him playing) and is usually "it" when they play "tag" (resembles a childhood game I played). He shares his toys (but not his food!) Rub his belly and he is yours! He has the greatest coat that is easy to groom. He is very affectionate and loves to hang around me. Toby has produced six great puppies, all of whom have his terrific personality.

Tuffy, after a bath and grooming (Feb 11). This was shortly after we got him and he was such a great customer despite hardly knowing me. He loves to please and is a very content dog. His favourite game is tug-o-war which he usually wins but he always brings the toy back to me to play again. Will get some photos of him outside if the rain ever stops!

About Cockapoos

The parents of our Cockapoos are AKC registered.

The parents of 1st generation Cockapoos have one parent a Cocker Spaniel and the other parent a Poodle. This combination, when selected by a knowledgeable breeder,  gives the best  both breeds: non shedding, hypoallergenic* coat, intelligent, easy to train, loves people of all ages and is very adaptable.

Toby, Maragold, Sophie, Robin, and Bailey and Darla are 1st generation Cockapoos. 

Frisco's mother is a 3rd generation chocolate & white parti and weighs 7 lbs. His sire is a 2nd generation 9-lb. chocolate. Both parents, all four  grandparents and most of the great-grandparents (that I know of) have CERF, OFA, etc.

Second and subsequent generations of Cockapoos are produced from breeding Cockapoo to Cockapoo.

MARAGOLD  just loves people and is not hesitant to receive hugs from anyone. A little ball of energy one minute and hanging out over her bed asleep the next - she is just adorable. Mara is 10lbs  with a beautiful, soft coat and huge brown eyes with eyelashes to die for! Maragold & Frisco had 5 beautiful puppies in their first litter,October 09 and she made a wonderful mother. Hoping to breed her and Frisco in Feb 2011FRISCO BAY  is a very affectionate little guy - but doesn't back down from our other dogs. At 7 lbs, he has successfully sired two litters of beautiful, smaller cockapoos

Robin is such a snuggle bunny even as she gets older. She and Darla seem to play continually, rolling around the floor and chasing each other. Robin loves to be hugged. She has grown as tall as Toby, but much slimmer. Can't wait to see their puppies early next year.

Bailey joined our family in May 2010. She has a quiet but independent personality, and is very intelligent,  Bailey and Sophie have become a "tag" team with Robin and Darla. They are all loving this cooler Fall weather chasing each other around our garden - especially playing ball (which Frisco Bay thinks is his personal game).

 

Darla is a beauty, very intelligent and curious. She is growing, but not too fast, plays hard with the others and still naps regularly during the day and loves to be hugged (she produces the sweetest sighs!).
